spring is in the air.

this time of year makes me so crazy.
the weather seems to switch so frequently,
i hardly ever know if i should be wearing a parka
or a pair of open-toed flats.

nonetheless, i am anticipating this spring very much.
i can't wait to shed my layers and head to the outdoor market
and shop till my heart's content.

i am in love with these extremely simple, highly adorable nylon bags from baggu.
the bags come in a bazillion different colors, and they are extremely affordable.

plus, they save on these ..

.. which translates to saving the environment.
i'm down with that :-)

the last few weeks i have been yearning for a pair of
matchstick fit jeans.
i have had my little heart set on these babies -
or something like it.

i love j. crew - they are the definition of adorable.
for $98.00, they're not half bad.

american eagle outfitters have some for almost half the price - at $49.50

i imagine them with a cute pair of flats, like so ..

and just like that - i am ready for sweet spring!

p.s.
you know what would go nicely with some cute flats?
my coat!
i didn't forget.
i'll get some pictures up tomorrow :-)

i found this incredible london based store a few months ago -
they make handbags, tunic/dresses, wallets - ooh! and they're sooo pretty!
what a fantastic alternative to a giant, designer handbags - dont'cha think?
not only are these bags one of a kind -
they go for about a fraction of the cost of a designer handbag.
plus, they're environmentally friendly.

i haven't bought my bag yet - but i'll let you know when i do.

here's a few interesting excerpts from their website:

"We've always loved British kitchen sink dramas from the 1960s and some of the style names are a tribute to the actresses of that era, along with iconic women from the past 60 years. The fabrics used are from our stock of vintage fabrics we've been collecting for over 20 years. We’re constantly scouring antique markets and clambering around in rolls of fabrics in thrift shops for new prints."

"We've produced a Contemporary Range of accessories using a vegetable tanned nappa leather which is butter soft to the touch and uses no harmful chrome and fewer chemicals in the production process. We’re are also involved in research and development of a new ‘Bio Leather’ which will further reduce environmental harm."

"We also offer a bespoke service where, at no extra cost, you can choose the vintage fabric and leather colour and we will make a bag tailored to your whim. Alternatively, you can supply your own vintage fabric and we can make the style of your choice."

how do you afford your rock and roll lifestyle?

justin and i went to new york city two days ago, with the intention of checking out some apartments.
needless to say, we were a bit disappointed.
the real estate business is fierce ..
uuukkk .. and expensive!
.. poor piggy bank :-(

anyway.
our real estate lady showed us one measly, little place -
and it was nothing but an eye sore.

i don't want to get my hopes up too much -
i realize i only saw one place.
we had a hard time with our real estate lady, too.
she's quite a busy woman, with a lot of clients, and it seems she doesn't have available what we're looking for.
plus, it seems to be rather impossible to have a doggie in astoria.

this news breaks my heart.

we're going back in about a week to continue our journey.
i really have my heart set on having a perfect place -
since it is my first apartment.
how exciting!
.. my first place.
and i get to share it with my best friend
.. doesn't that sweeten the deal!!!

guess we'll have to keep looking :-)
patience is a virtue!

i have seriously been contemplating

making my own clothes.

this lovely lady uses her father's shirt as a skirt ..

(picture taken from the sartorialist)
lovely!
(note to self: visit stockholm a.s.a.p.)

oh, there are so many great resources available to help you create yourself some lovely digs.

wendy mullin, creator/designer of built by wendy has an amazing book, particularly for people like me, who don't know much about sewing, stitching or patterns, for that matter. i found a hardcover version of Sew U on half.com for $9.99 :-)

the only thing i know how to do is sew a button on.
ha - that's ridiculous.

good news, my sweets!

I GOT MY COAT!

yes, the coat!

i shall post pictures tomorrow, since it's almost 2 in the morning, and i'm off to bed.

love & stuff.

i lust for ..

chanel's fragrance - chance.

it's a perfectly perfect blend of jasmine and citrus - so fresh.

dear sart,

you must be a genius of sorts.
i have to mention - what a beautiful shot.

such effortlessness, in beautiful paris.
