As you may have guessed, my brother arrived last night! We had a very warm welcome at LaGuardia Airport, went home to make some pasta & then ventured to the city.We spent most of our time in Times Square.Jacob was quite fascinated by all the lights & commotion (admittedly, I usually I am too). We ended up making our way home at about 2 a.m., and by that time, Jake was zonked out.
So, today we spent most of our time getting lost. First, we went to Strawberry Fields. I can't even begin to explain how peaceful it is there. I think it's the most peaceful place in the city. There's always this overwhelming sense of tranquility - no matter who's there or what's going on. It makes me very, very happy.
We ventured through the park for quite some time, stopping off at the Angel Tunnel, listening to a few musicians & taking pictures.
Here's Jacob, pretending to be a drunk homeless man.
Here's Jacob pretending to be normal.
Eventually we ended up at Central Park South, and went to the Apple Store & then to FAO Schwarz. This is where it really got amusing. (I took a lot of pictures).
I'm sort of a sucker for cute little stuffed animals, so this is pretty much the place to be.
As promised, I met and got another photo with James McAvoy. Can I just say again how really, truly nice this guy is?
This is about as much of a smile that I've seen him with. He seems to be a straight-faced kinda guy. You can't really tell (since my boyfriend didn't take a full-length picture) but I'm wearing a gorgeous linen knee-length dress with a short-sleeved sweater. Ahhh, well.
For me, it's insane with celebrities because I think about what to say - and I have this little speech all planned out, and then it's like, they come out - sign - pose for a picture - and they're gone & I'm usually the one standing there with this dumb look on my face. In other words, I get a little starstruck. God, I hate that word.
This morning I was watching this really fantastic interview with James McAvoy & my favorite talk show host, Craig Ferguson. You should watch it.
I love it when Craig Ferguson has guests from the UK - they talk about being back home, and just end up joking around - it's quite hilarious.

On a sadder note, I woke up this morning to the awful news that George Carlin passed away. Here are a few quotes I found that amused me. *Religion is bullshit. *Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity. *Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac? *I think people should be allowed to do anything they want. We haven't tried that for a while. Maybe this time it'll work. *If God had intended us not to masturbate he would've made our arms shorter. *If we could just find out who's in charge, we could kill him. *Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
We just got home from Soho ... and guess who I met?!?!?!?!
Mr. Mcavoy & his gorgeous Scottish accent - (yes, that is his hand on my shoulder!!!). Not only is he incredibly handsome, he's also talented & sweet as pie.My favorite role was in The Last King of Scotland, where he played a young Dr.Nicholas Garrigan. Seriously, incredible movie.
Epp! I'm going to see him tomorrow at The Daily Show. Yay! - perhaps I will get another photo! I do believe he is leaving tomorrow - so back to London with his darling wife. I suppose I could categorize this under happy thought of the day - but it might only apply to me.So, in that case ... here are a few happy thoughts for my sweet, lovely readers.
