fence, wisconsin

this past weekend i went up north to a little town called fence.
if you drive a ways down a little gravel road, you'll find our family's cabin, nestled deep in the woods.
here's a bit from my weekend ...
(i recommend clicking some for a larger view!)

this is my grandma.
i took this picture on the sly, as she isn't that fond of the camera.
luckily, she smiled.
she's so cute when she smiles.

my grandpa is a real ham, too.
he drove the 3 1/2 hour trip to our cabin.

the drive was a bit rainy and dark, but beautiful.

a few shots of our humble abode ...

my grandma makes delicious chocolate zucchini bread.

the outhouse is incredibly luxurious.

this is our handy-dandy outdoor shower ...

i ate delicious wild raspberries each morning.

my grandpa is a real wise guy.
he put up this sign to scare away some kids who were riding dirt bikes on our land.

there he is again, mowing the lawn.
sam (my uncle's dog) was enjoying her vacation.

on saturday we rode 60 miles round trip on the four-wheelers.
we stopped for lunch and a few scenic views.
doesn't my grandma look like she's having fun??

if you can't tell, that's me all bundled up with a gigantic helmet on.
you wouldn't believe how chilly it was - highs in the 60s during the day, and lows in the 40s at night. BUR!

isn't that little guy adorable?
he was such a comedian!
my uncle spotted him out the window at our lunch stop.
every time i went to take a picture of him,
he would zig-zag back and forth, up and down.
i guess he didn't want his picture taken.

i love my grandpa.
he has a great sense of humor.

on sunday morning we went kayaking on lake oneonta.
it was lovely.

i couldn't bring myself to lug my big camera into the kayak with me,
so i just took some shots on shore.

grandma.

me.

and then we said goodbye.

  3. Holy shit! You really under-estimated when you said "Some of my pictures from the trip came out pretty good" ... a nice and many amount of these shots are INCREDIBLE! I'm officially jealous of your vision/style. And proud of you. My definite favorite is IMG_2365 -- but it's too hard to choose. Be well, Lovely one. (PS: No more drunk messages from me, I promise.)
